Just when i thought my issues with Moxier were over...

After 1.0 not working (after successfully running the trial version) and then being given a link to a patched version that finally worked, i went to run Moxier over the weekend and rec'd the "beta version has expired" notice. So my problems live on with moxier. I swear, this is not good that i have to keep fighting to have moxier stay afloat on my phone. I'm sure (aka i hope) moxier will jump all over this and tell me what i need to do, but i'm honestly a little tired of having to invest so much energy into this app. Wish me luck, i'd love to hear if anyone else has had issues with the patched version expiring (or if my post makes it obvious that there's a major user error at hand, please fill me in). thanks.

Jenny on May 4, 2009 at 12:50 AM

Dear Weees: We will have the paypal payment service ready once we get our Moxier Wallet launched. Once that's launched, we will also have the payment system ready for Moxier Mail. Sorry for the wait, but it is coming :)

Weees on May 2, 2009 at 10:34 AM

I really enjoyed using Moxier while in beta, and now that I want to buy it

I CANT !!!

Because well, Android Store is not yet allowing any purchases to paid apps. outside the U.S. and I dont live in the U.S. So basically IM SCREWED !! I cant understand WHY they dont also allow people to purchase it through paypal and install on their phones. I mean again Touchdown is doing that, and moxier is loosing to the competition NOT because they are worse, just because of mistakes like these !!

reid on Apr 30, 2009 at 7:59 AM

@Wes. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you (to the 100th power).

@other users who have read my previous posts: I rec'd the patch from Moxier & it has indeed worked for me. I can only wonder why the patched version i downloaded is not the same version offered on the market. i'm sure there is an obvious answer to this question, i'm just not a programmer to know what that answer is.

@Moxier: you deserve credit for 3 things.

1) I have mad respect for the fact that you have not deleted any of my blog comments. they were not kind in nature and i can only suspect that your own confidence in Moxier Mail is the reason why you are not threatened by whackos like me. THANK YOU for allowing others to hear my thoughts & concerns.

2) Considering all the emails I imagine you are receiving, I applaud the speed with which you responded to me so personally. Jenny's (at Moxier) emails always answered BOTH email and blog comments/questions i had.

3) YOU FIXED MY PROBLEM!

best of luck to all the rest of you. i'll check the blog periodically to see if i can help anyone else out.

peace, reid

Wes on Apr 29, 2009 at 12:47 PM

@reid - I feel your pain. I, too, bought Moxier Mail. I installed & uninstalled a couple of times during the first 24 hours and have yet to see any refund. I doubt I ever will. Moxier did send me a "patched" version, but it did the exact same thing. I finally tried Touchdown & it installed the very 1st time. It makes me very angry to think I'll need to buy another mail app.

reid on Apr 29, 2009 at 7:14 AM

is there ANYONE who has faced the problem of NOT being able to get past the v1.0 set up that has since been able to get it to work? If so, will you PLEASE let the rest of us know how your problem was fixed and what we might do from here. PLEASE(!).

unfortunately, i have learned (since buying the moxier app) that google has a 24 hour return policy on apps that don't work (i know, MY BAD for not researching their policy before picking up Moxier Mail as my FIRST paid app). anyhow, i feel duped in this situation, especially after my email from moxier, to answer my question about a refund, did not express any willingness to refund my $ (i got the bland "google's return policy is..." response).

so for anyone else out there who is looking into this blog because they are interested in the v1.0 app, GET READY TO ASK FOR A REFUND IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS IN GETTING THE APP SET UP - DO NOT WAIT FOR MOXIER TO HELP OR REPLY TO YOU.

6 days & waiting on getting moxier v1.0 to work on my G1, Reid

Doug on Apr 29, 2009 at 3:22 AM

Does this inter-operate well with "Documents to go" or other apps for office attachments?

Markus on Apr 28, 2009 at 2:56 PM

Will there be an alternative to the market to buy this program? Paid apps are not yet available where I am living (Australia). When will the pre-release stop to work?

adp on Apr 28, 2009 at 2:48 PM

the $24 pricetag will cause this app to get hacked...

Wes on Apr 28, 2009 at 1:06 PM

I like the look and functionality of Moxier Mail, but it has to work. Today I tried Touchdown for the first time. I was resisting. It setup the FIRST TIME. I'll be checking-it-out during the trial period. But, I have to say it again, it setup the FIRST TIME.

Wes on Apr 28, 2009 at 12:57 PM

I can't believe the hassle I have gone through to try and get v1.0 to just work. I haven't been able to get past account setup. I used the beta & pre-release, no problems. Tried to be faithful and purchased v1.0. I've even tried the patch you've sent me. Same problem. "Confirm your ID/password/domain info". I feel I've been more than patient.

tom on Apr 28, 2009 at 12:23 PM

I believe what Shawn is referring to is the current port of the sapphire code to the dream models. This includes the HTC mail client with activesync which includes mail, calendar and contacts.

That being said, I like the look of the moxier client better and wouldn't mind paying for it (along with contacts/calendar) at its current price point.

alas, as a dev phone owner, I have no such choice as of yet.

Jenny on Apr 28, 2009 at 1:36 AM

Steinar: Thanks for writing! What you're experiencing is one of the bugs Android Market's going through right now. In this case try this: Android Market >> Applications >> Click on any paid App >> Press Buy (don't freak, you won't be needing to buy anything) >> then go back to the previous screen.

Now try searching Moxier Mail 1.0 in the Android Market - most likely our product will show up on your list for you to be able to purchase.

Steinar on Apr 27, 2009 at 5:41 AM

I must be one of the blind ones here... As far as my experience with the pre-release ,I'm very pleased ,and want to purchace the product. But... ,when searching on Android market ,I just find the pre-release ,and i don't find any link to purchase in the program either..

Hallow on Apr 25, 2009 at 9:28 PM

I too have had great success with the pre-release versions, but now the paid version won't connect. I uninstalled the pre-release, before I installed 1.0. I'm using the same settings as the earlier version. I uninstalled 1.0 and switched back to pre-release and verified it connects fine. Lots of comments on the market about this same issue. Server is 2007 with self-signed ssl.

Wes on Apr 24, 2009 at 11:54 AM

I've uninstalled & reinstalled twice. Still can't get it to accept my server info. The same info I used in the previous versions. A little help?

Curtis Acree on Apr 24, 2009 at 11:11 AM

Never mind...I am an idiot.

Curtis Acree on Apr 24, 2009 at 10:42 AM

I might be blind, but how/where do I buy?

Brian on Apr 24, 2009 at 8:19 AM

Scott- Yes, I use the pre-release version with a webmail url as the server

Scott on Apr 24, 2009 at 5:54 AM

Does this work over Outlook Web Access? We don't have an ActiveSync push server for our Exchange.

Matt on Apr 24, 2009 at 5:39 AM

I'm a big fan of the pre-release, its simple, and works great. however, I upgraded the the 1.0, twice yesterday, only to have it not take the EXACT same settings the Pre-release was working just fine with. I AM the IT guy, so its not a mater of getting teh right settings (As I said, same ones were working in the pre-release). As a result, I've moved back to the pre-release, since it works.

I would LOVE to purchase the full version, but now have to wait for what will hopefully be a very soon bug-fix release? I've seen other comments (here and app store) with the same issues, so I know I'm not alone.

Wes on Apr 23, 2009 at 9:20 PM

I've been using beta/pre-release since they arrived and I like this app very much. But, I cannot get past the second page of setting up the account. I am entering the same info I did in the other two previous versions but I can't get past "verify your server info"! Please help

Jenny on Apr 23, 2009 at 8:52 PM

Brian: In June, when full features are available, Moxier Mail is going to be available at a regular price. $24.99 is the limited time only discounted price.

Jenny on Apr 23, 2009 at 8:41 PM

RobM/Shawn: We have reps from Google helping us out with our development, and currently nothing about built-in exchange functionality has been mentioned. Furthermore, even all companies we are in touch with right now (i.e. device manufacturers, telecom companies) haven't mentioned a thing about this issue. If you can share with us where you've received such info, we'll be glad to confirm that for you.

facelessuser on Apr 23, 2009 at 3:20 PM

I hate the text format when you post a comment. Between domain and username you should use a backslash.

facelessuser on Apr 23, 2009 at 3:19 PM

@Reid I've had no problem getting my work email. email: my work email address user: (Domain if it is required)username pass: password

It then prompts me form my server server: Whatever site or server you have to long onto. Also check SSL if required.

You may have to get some of this info from IT if you don't know it. If that doesn't help, then maybe your work setup is different. I found Moxier a lot less confusing than rival Touchdown.

Reid on Apr 23, 2009 at 1:59 PM

I had issues setting up the trial version of moxier mail, but succeeded in getting it set up after 15 minutes of having to do the thinking FOR moxier. Today, i purchased the full version with hesitation and have now spent 3 trips to my i.t. department for a day's worth of having NO EMAIL ACCESS ON MY PHONE. Please send me the wonderful questionnaire that is supposed to help me so tremendously. Also, perhaps you could change the many error statements that a person has to go through when setting moxier up from "please verify blah blah blah" to "you freaking domain name is wrong," or "why the heck didn't you use the correct password?!". i am so tired of the messages not telling me what is wrong and only asking me to verify so & so. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO VERIFY IT. AND WHY, AFTER I PUT THE SAME INFORMATION IN OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN AM I STILL GETTING NEW ERROR MESSAGES??? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG IF YOU DON'T TELL ME AND IF EVERYTIME A MESSAGE COMES UP IT DIFFERS FROM THE PREVIOUS MESSAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! perhaps you guys could post a PHONE NUMBER instead of a blog response. i'm tempted to put MY # up here just to get a response from someone who cares (i.e. the other bloggers who have dealt with the same inconveniences that i have faced!).

thanks for listening, moxier. i absolutely can't wait for my work email to arriving at my phone. hopefully i don't get an email termination this evening, i'd hate to wake up early tomorrow if i don't have a job to be at - i'll be sure to pass on my thanks if something like this happens.

RobM on Apr 23, 2009 at 6:59 AM

@Shawn. Really? Can you provide a resource? I have not heard anything about that. That would be awesome to have built-in official Exchange functionality. And thank you, Jenny, for the responses.

Shawn on Apr 23, 2009 at 6:31 AM

I believe I read that cupcake will include exchange support, I'd advise to hold out till it is pushed to G1.

Brian on Apr 23, 2009 at 5:26 AM

Jenny- Thank you for replying to us.

Does this mean the full completed product (in june, when there is full sync, calendar, tasks, etc) will cost more than $24.99?

Jenny on Apr 23, 2009 at 1:48 AM

Hi guys, please read on for answers to your comments. Sorry for any misconceptions made and please do ask us if you have any questions. Answers to e-mails do get delayed but never ignored. However, it may be quicker for us to answer you back on this blog. So do let us know and we apologize once again.

Jenny on Apr 23, 2009 at 1:45 AM

Rob/Seatowngrrl/Facelessuser/Brian: We have not announced our regulations on whether upgrades after v1.5 will require payment or go free. Many software provides constant minor upgrades for free and require payment for major upgrades every 1 or 2 yrs. And like so, Moxier is not different from this won’t be disappointing.

Jenny on Apr 23, 2009 at 1:44 AM

Tom: For developers to be able to purchase paid apps, Android has to change their regulations. It’s not something we can do. However, once available, we will post how-to so that you and other developers will be able to purchase it.

Jenny on Apr 23, 2009 at 1:43 AM

Dave: We've mentioned previously in our blog that Pre-release and v1.0 will integrate same features. The difference b/w pre-release and v1.0 is the stablity of better push environment along with other fixed bugs.

Jenny on Apr 23, 2009 at 1:39 AM

Sasha: Thanks Sasha for your list – we did receive it and it has been fwd to our dev team for enhancement. E-mail will be sent to you with further information.

Jenny on Apr 23, 2009 at 1:38 AM

John/DJ: We’ve had group of users to test different environments so that everyone wouldn’t have any errors while setting up Moxier Mail. I’ve just verified your e-mail addresses so I will send you some questionnaire to discover what’s causing the issues and solve them.

jon on Apr 22, 2009 at 8:14 PM

I could never get the first release to work because of a certificate error. I'm not going to drop $25 on am app that doesn't work for me.

dj on Apr 22, 2009 at 6:45 PM

Bought it and will refund, still doesn't work!!!

facelessuser on Apr 22, 2009 at 5:56 PM

I sent an email as well, but I have sent emails to them before, and from experience, they never directly answered my question.

sasha on Apr 22, 2009 at 11:17 AM

as long as the bugs are not fixed in the pre-release, I will never buy the software. Bad thing, I have raised a lot of bugs, but there is no notification if there are fixed or not. Would be great that the people raised bugs see the status in the spreadsheet. Sent a mail becuase of this but no response at all. And I fully agree with Brian!

facelessuser on Apr 22, 2009 at 11:15 AM

Yes, please clarify. Traditionally you can usually assume free upgrades for 1. when dealing with most devs outside of android. 2. would be a major upgrade and sometimes require an upgrade fee. What is Moxier's policy?

Brian on Apr 22, 2009 at 10:28 AM

Anyone from Moxier care to comment or clarify?

facelessuser on Apr 22, 2009 at 10:09 AM

I agree with Brian. The subtly of the phrasing seems to suggest you "only" get 1.3 and 1.5, which compared to the competition, you should probably get free anyways, and you should get general bug fix updates after that.

If the statement is only referring to the price, then some clarification should be made. What they may be saying is "buy it now for cheap for a limited time, I know it doesn't have all the features you want, but I promise the features you really want are coming." If this is so, the phrasing is really bad and should be corrected.

Brian on Apr 22, 2009 at 8:37 AM

Dave, you could be right. But they specify you will only get free upgrades to 1.3 and 1.5.... What about after that?

More clarification is needed, both from a purchasing viewpoint and as to what updates were actually made to this version.

Dave on Apr 22, 2009 at 8:31 AM

Guys, I could be wrong here but what I think Moxier means is that if you buy now you will get the $24.99 price and included in that price is all future upgrades. If you neglect to buy it now at $24.99 you may have to pay a larger price down the road. So, perhaps you wait until 7/1/09 to buy after they add a bunch of new features. They may charge $34.99 to new customers who haven't already purchased it.

This is similar to what Documents To Go has done. You can buy it now for $19.99 but in the future it will be priced at $29.99 for NEW buyers not existing users. Probably after they add additional features (hopefully PDF and PPT support).

I would like to know exactly what enhancements were made from the pre-release beta version included in the v1.0 release.

Brian on Apr 22, 2009 at 8:16 AM

Agree with facelessuser... Touchdown UI sucks, Moxier UI is great.

The Devs work on this seems to be great, but I guess they need a business/marketing person in there...

Unless these comments are replied to and acted upon, I will not be buying MoxierMail at all.

facelessuser on Apr 22, 2009 at 8:13 AM

I have to agree with a lot of people here. Competitive wise, Touchdown gives you more bang for the buck. They already offer calendar etc, and you get it when you buy it, and new features are free, at least for the current future (huge changes may require small fee some day).

I was really looking forward to Moxier Mail because I like its interface, but with this pay as you update mentality, people don't see $24 dollar price, they see a $Insert Huge Amount Here. People feel that they should get what the competition offers, and since you only want to give it to them for a limited time, they are afraid you are going to rip them off for some other feature maybe only three months down the line when the app is still new.

I know you want to recoup your time and money spent on this and make a profit, but when users can get more for less its now worth it for them to buy yours. Even though I don't like Touchdown, I'm considering buying theirs over Moxier.

Brian on Apr 22, 2009 at 7:50 AM

After re-reading this post again, there is not one new feature. All of these are available in the pre-release version.

Am I correct?

RobM on Apr 22, 2009 at 7:48 AM

I have been waiting for this announcement for a long time and I must say I am a little disappointed for the same reasons that have already been expressed in the comments. I want to want to buy this app.

Brian on Apr 22, 2009 at 7:44 AM

Moxier, comeon now. You were rolling great up until now.

"Low Price"? This is the most expensive app on the market, matching Office and Touchdown.

You are really going to try to charge for each update? That is absurd. On that principle alone, I will not be buying the product.

Why was this released already? This is not the full version, there is no calendar or tasks? This is the pre-release version, with a bait to buy now and get more updates later.

Unfortunately, even though I love the app, I will not buy. Sorry.

tom on Apr 22, 2009 at 6:57 AM

I guess us android dev phone users are now out of luck.

seatowngrrl on Apr 22, 2009 at 6:34 AM

I figured it was the 24.99 to buy it once and the the upgrades to future versions and future fixes would be included. Still for me its way to much to pay for the program. If the price were lower wouldn't more people use it?

Rob on Apr 22, 2009 at 5:14 AM

So am I to understand that we will have to buy the new version everytime one is released?
"For a limited time, when you purchase Moxier Mail, you will get free upgrades to Moxier Mail 1.3 and Moxier Mail 1.5 when they’re available!"

I love this app, but I'm not pay $24 now, then again everytime you add features... particularly when Touchdown is the same price and already supports contacts an calendar with FREE updates.

Please tell me I'm not reading this correctly.
